What inspired you to join The SR Group traineeship in Amsterdam?
After completing my BSc, I chose to join The SR Group traineeship because it offered a unique blend of hands-on experience and professional skill development.
“The structured program promised comprehensive training and a clear path for career advancement, aligning perfectly with my desire for both responsibility and guided support.”
I was excited about the opportunity to dive into the recruitment industry with a supportive team that values professional enhancement and mentorship, setting a solid foundation for my future career.
What’s one moment from the traineeship that made you think, “This is exactly why I joined!” and how has it shaped your career journey?
During my first few weeks at Taylor Root, I had the opportunity to attend the Legal 500 Conference in Amsterdam.
“As a recent graduate, it was a completely new experience to be surrounded by General Counsels and top lawyers from major multinational companies across various industries.”
The chance to establish connections and engage with leading professionals was invaluable, offering me profound insights into the role and significance of building a professional network.
Can you describe a challenge that pushed you out of your comfort zone and how that experience prepared you to handle similar situations at work today?
Being new to the corporate world, I quickly realised how crucial effective stakeholder management is. Addressing the diverse needs and priorities of various stakeholders presented its own set of challenges. To navigate these, I prioritised clear, concise and effective communication, ensuring that I fully understood each stakeholder’s needs. Reliability and follow-through were essential. One aspect I found especially challenging was overcoming objections and managing unrealistic expectations. As stakeholder management is a key part of my everyday work, learning to maintain clarity and set realistic expectations early on has enabled me to meet my clients’ needs effectively and deliver quality results.
How has the programme shaped your career path, and what have you learned about yourself through the experience?
“This traineeship programme has, in the best way, pushed me out of my comfort zone, helping to grow my confidence and develop essential skills such as effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving.”
It has shown me that I can hold valuable conversations with experienced professionals at a young age. The program has also offered valuable experience in business development, client relationship management, and understanding market dynamics, allowing me to gain insights I otherwise would not have encountered. Additionally, the exposure to various industries and the opportunity to build a professional network have significantly enhanced my ability to do well in this field.
