IWD2021 #ChooseToChallenge: Female Leaders Across The Globe

June 29, 2022

During this past year, we have been challenged beyond what could ever have been reasonably conceivable. In such unprecedented times and a period of incredible upheaval and tremendous uncertainty, why then should we also #ChooseToChallenge, on top of the daily challenges that we have no choice about?

Because, whilst we have come so far, there is still further to go. There is still a gender pay gap, we still need quotas for women on boards, we still need to provide gender balanced shortlists, we still celebrate the milestone of an elected offical being a woman, and we still have cause to carve out one special day on the 8th of March each year. We are getting there, but we are not there yet.

No matter how you #ChooseToChallenge, you are not alone in this journey, as evidenced by the 127 incredible and inspiring women who have contributed to our IWD publication this year. We have been overwhelmed by the response from our global network and believe that this document creates a very real snapshot of the variety of ways in which women in 2021 are choosing to call out inequality, discrimination, stereotypes and prejudices. This is a celebration of women, by women. Thank you to all who have taken part; your stories, anecdotes, honesty and authenticity are inspiring, uplifting and a very real call to arms.
