Toria Walker

Toria Walker

Toria Walker read law at the University of Leeds and graduated in 2003. She joined the SR Group in January 2004 and now places lawyers into private practice roles in the Thames Valley, South West and Wales.

On joining the SRG graduate recruitment scheme nearly four years ago I was excited about joining a market leader in recruitment, but also a little apprehensive about my choice of career. I soon knew I had made the right decision, and years later I remain very happy with the firm. Although it has grown considerably since I joined it has managed to keep an exceptionally collegiate and friendly culture.

The advantages of the graduate scheme don't just include the substantial training and continual guidance, I think it's the respect and autonomy you receive from such an early stage that really sets it apart. The graduate scheme here provides a home for personable and ambitious graduates in search of a career that offers constant challenges in a commercial, team-orientated environment.

Jonathan Glerum

Jonathan Glerum

Jonathan joined Brewer Morris in early 2004 after completing our graduate induction program. After 18 months working on a UK national desk he subsequently joined our London team where he has responsibility for some of our key practice clients – recruiting at all levels up to senior manager.

The graduate scheme was my first move into a professional environment and the support and training were excellent. I had decided that a career in recruitment was going to be for the long-term, and a six-month scheme was the best offer that was put before me – neither too short nor too long.

The graduate scheme itself covered everything from looking and sounding the part to knowing your clients and candidates inside out, and there is no doubt that once the scheme was complete I was well prepared to face the challenge of becoming a recruitment consultant.

Another positive that came out of the scheme was the possibility of moving internally within the firm. I myself moved between divisions, and a number of other individuals have moved both nationally and internationally.

All in all, the graduate scheme provides an excellent grounding for individuals that are seriously considering recruitment as a career. From my point of view, it certainly comes highly recommended.

Tom Pogmore

Tom Pogmore

Tom Pogmore is a law graduate from the University of Birmingham and completed the LPC at Nottingham Law School in June 2004. Tom is now based in our Birmingham office and places lawyers into private practice roles in the East and West Midlands.

Making the decision to move into recruitment was a big one for me and so an established graduate programme was really important. The graduate scheme run by the SR Group gave me a great mix of structured training, often delivered by partners and managers within the group, and practical experience gained whilst working day-to-day supporting the different teams. A combination of both elements gave me a solid grounding in the workings of the business and upon completing the scheme I felt well equipped to run my own desk effectively.

From an early stage junior consultants are encouraged to develop and build client relationships and are afforded a good degree of autonomy. This enables consultants to develop their own approach, which is underpinned by the training received on the graduate scheme. For any graduate looking to embark upon a career in recruitment I'd highly recommend the SRG scheme.

Alex Wiseman

Alex Wiseman

Alex Wiseman graduated from University College London with a law degree in 2002 and subsequently went on to study the LPC at the College of Law in London. Alex joined The SR Group in December 2003 and specialises in private practice recruitment for London law firms.

I chose to join The SR Group because of its excellent profile and reputation within the market as well as the quality of training on offer. The formal graduate training scheme took the form of weekly seminars and was delivered by senior individuals within the business as well as external trainers. On a day-to-day basis, I sat with consultants, shadowed their roles and put what I had learnt into practice. I was given responsibility at a very early stage and rotated through different teams within the business. What struck me most was the quality, professionalism and also good nature of the consultants. Everyone went out of their way to help develop my skills.

On a social level, there was always plenty going on and I formed a real camaraderie with the other graduates. When I finished the graduate scheme after six months I joined the Private Practice team and was up-and-running as a consultant on day one.

Helen Snowdon

Helen Snowdon

Helen graduated with a History degree from the University of Wales, Swansea in 2006. After university, Helen worked as a Resourcer for G2 Search before joining Frazer Jones on the Graduate Scheme in March 2007. Helen is now a consultant on the Reward team, recruiting at the junior level of this market.

When I first started on the SR Group Graduate Recruitment Scheme, I was a little nervous about embarking on a career in recruitment. I soon realised that I had made the right decision, as the graduate scheme involved varied and motivating training sessions, as well as day-to-day exposure to recruitment. I believe that the graduate scheme has provided me with an excellent grounding and has fully prepared me for life as a Recruitment Consultant.

Now I am a Consultant, I thoroughly enjoy building relationships with clients and candidates and I like the variety that comes with each day. Achieving my first offer after only two weeks as a consultant gave me a great feeling of satisfaction.

Liam Richardson

Liam Richardson

Liam Richardson graduated from the University of Leicester with a law degree before completing his LPC in London in 2004. He joined The SR Group in September of that year. Liam is now based in our Hong Kong office and recruits lawyers and compliance personnel into in-house and banking positions in the Asia region.

As a law graduate looking for the best possible start to my career, I was both delighted and reassured to be accepted onto the SRG Graduate Scheme. I knew that I was joining a market leader which was taking the time to invest six months in training new recruits, and so was clearly serious about careful expansion and identifying the right people.

Having been provided with a solid grounding in all facets of recruitment, I was given the autonomy to prove myself as a recruiter, and was rewarded with the chance to work in the Hong Kong office. I've been mentored, supported and encouraged every step of the way, with continual development being a major theme. The transition from trainee to legal consultant, working in one of the busiest financial markets in the world, has been seamless and thoroughly enjoyable.

Though 6000 miles away from where I started, I continue to feel strongly affiliated to the team in London and those individuals who helped me get where I am today. I am thoroughly enjoying being part of a great organisation.
